SPECIAL COPPER PARTS

Copper mold for continuous casting

Currently, the most common mold materials are copper-silver (CuAg) and copper-chromium-zirconium (CuCrZr) alloys. Both alloys share the characteristic of exhibiting greater hardness and/or strength—as well as a significantly higher recrystallization temperature—compared to unalloyed copper. This allows for an extended service life for our molds. In terms of thermal conductivity, CuAg performs on par with unalloyed copper, while CuCrZr maintains a value of approximately 80% of that maximum. Utilizing modern CNC machinery, we ensure the highest possible precision for molds with tight tolerances. To further enhance service life, the working surfaces of the molds—those in contact with the molten raw material—are typically plated to specific thicknesses; we guarantee a high standard of quality for the hard chrome or thick nickel plating applied. Furthermore, these coatings help prevent surface defects, such as cracks, that could otherwise arise from direct contact between the copper mold and the cast strand.

OXYGEN LANCE

  • Based on your process data, we utilize modern CAD and simulation software to develop and design an oxygen lance—ready for installation—tailored precisely to your specific application. We provide complete oxygen lance assemblies, distinguished by their long service life and equipped with lance heads optimized specifically for your production parameters. Both the lance and the lance head are designed and manufactured to allow for easy, modular replacement of production-critical components. This reduces maintenance costs and, consequently, your overall operating costs.

LANCE TIP

We offer a comprehensive range of copper lance tips, as well as the necessary accessories for use in your converter. These include oxygen lance tips for:

  • Basic Oxygen Process (BOP)
  • Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) process
  • Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization (VOD) process
  • Bottom lances
    PC lances and PC distributors
  • Converter outlet burners

Cutting Nozzle

Featuring proven characteristics and an extended service life, this cutting nozzle delivers excellent performance. It enables high cutting speeds, narrow kerfs, and the ability to perform irregular cuts, making it ideal for a wide range of operational environments, various product temperatures (both cold and hot), and all common steel grades.

Relying on its strong European partners, WEST METAL CO. is ready to supply them from the available markets if different companies declare their need for special industrial parts.
